| How to change your Bway.net dial-up
number How to enable SMTP Authentication | |||||
| As of April
2005, Bway.net has expanded our dial-up options and now provides a single
list of numbers with 8500 options in almost every state / area code, including Canada and Puerto Rico. To connect to our numbers please find the nearest number to your location from this list and use that number in lieu of the bway.net dial-up numbers for your remote connection. Depending on your setup, the easiest method may be to create additional profiles. If you need setup help please see our help section for general help in establishing a connection. Please note that each dial-up account includes 300 hours of dial-up time per month. If you reach that limit, please contact us and we'll supply an additional account for free. Please not that when prompted for
your dial-up username you need to include
@bway.net, (i.e., binky@bway.net), plus your usual password.
Also, please make sure you have "smtp-auth" (instructions are If you experience problems, please answer the following questions and email
to support@bway.net The questions follow: (The first four are the most important for troubleshooting purposes) 1. Number being dialed into 2. Number being dialed from 3. Approximate time the customer was dialing in and experiencing failures. 4. Any error messages, if so exactly is it? 5. Does this happen all the time? When did this start happening? 6. What is happening; are they dialing out? Is the modem negotiating? Are they getting to the point of username/password verification? Are they connecting then getting dropped, if so how far into the connection? Are they not connecting at all? 7. Are they being assigned an IP Address? What is it? 8. What type of modem? 9. What type of computer, Windows or MAC? 10. What is the operating system? Happy trails! |
